Paul Halbison
Paul Halbison

Paul Halbison is a self-taught 15 year old guitar player.

He was bought his 1st guitar four years ago on Christmas. He was so determined to play that he sat in his room and by the end of the day, he was playing “Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison. Since then, he has learned every song he has wanted to play, and can play any song he hears because he “can see it in his head” and just plays it.

He had mostly played at family functions or on request, but since starting high school at Perry High 2 years ago, he has joined Intermediate Guitar (with no lessons ever) and since there was no others at his playing level, he has continued in that class and is currently in Guitar Ensemble, Jazz Band and was asked to play with the Winter Drumline and has numerous performances with those groups. He was awarded a scholarship to play at Rock Boot Camp in Scottsdale, Arizona. He won an award for most professional and the boot camp was featured on Channel 3 News. He also won at the Youth Talent Show in Chandler, Arizona his 1st year auditioning in which he played his version of “Voodoo Child” by Jimi Hendrix.

Paul also writes his own music and songs, along with poems and books. He is truly musically and artistically gifted. He practices guitar at least 2 hours a day, both on his electric and acoustic or his 12-string acoustic.

Paul considers some of his musical influences Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Angus Young, “Dime Bag” Darrel and Kirk Hammet. Although he loves playing other band’s songs, he always puts his own twist on the song to give it his personal style.

One of the reasons Paul enjoys performing for people is, “it feels good to hear and see people enjoying what I play”. Before the talent show Paul told his mother, “I am not here to win, I am here to show them who I am”.

Anna Collins
Anna Collins

Anna Collins is a 15-year-old singer/songwriter. She has been singing and songwriting and playing guitar for the past couple years. Anna has always sang but did not realize it is something she is very passionate about till about 2 years ago when she moved to Fargo, ND for 7 months for her brother’s hockey. There Anna started getting into her music and really focused on it, at first she never wanted to move there because she had never met anyone there or anything, but it turned out to be a total blessing because that’s when Anna picked up her guitar and note pad and started her music, everything happened for a reason. Anna is now live back in Gilbert, AZ. She has been singing at different events in Arizona such as, vacation bible schools, nursing homes, bookstore carnivals, restaurants, etc. Anna loves performing because she hopes that people can relate to her music and possibly be inspired. Free Radicals
Free Radicals

Free Radicals was originally formed in December 2007 by friends Zach Bartell (vocals), Justin Dey (guitar and backup vocals), and brothers Chuck and Taylor Morriss (bass guitar and drums). Recently joined by Sean Hogan (guitar), Free radicals started out as five friends jamming together on weekends, and turned into much much more. Throughout their short career, Free Radicals has already been lucky enough to perform at such venues as the Arizona State Fair, the Chandler Center for the Arts, the City of Chandler Teen talent competition two years in a row, the Chandler High School Unity Assembly, and many others. Playing their own original songs as well as a variety of covers, the members of Radicals are influenced by a vast array of genres but share a collective passion for rock ‘n roll that is deeply reflected in their music.
